BioSpace1 is a 60,000 SF multi-tenant life sciences business center completed in September 2005. It was developed with over $12 million USD of funding from the State of Louisiana , the federal government and the Biomedical Research Foundation. Click here for a photo tour of BioSpace1.

The first floor of the two story facility is reserved for more established life science tenants, and contains build-to-suit space with a $70 SF tenant fit-out allowance. A utility mezzanine is reserved for special back-office equipment that supports lab functions.

The second floor is a business incubator for start-up companies, and has 16 wet lab suites each approximately 1,000 SF. The labs are attached, and one or more can be leased as required. The labs contain biosafety hoods, fume hoods, incubators, fire safety cabinets, gas, vacuum and lab and office furniture. Additional office, equipment and storage spaces are available for lease to support the lab operations. Tenants share a core lab that includes high speed centrifuge, ultra centrifuge, glass washer and dryer, RODI water purification system, autoclave, walk-in cold room, a dark room (with sink, film processor, view box, printer and scintillation system), and copy and fax machines. Second floor tenants also have exclusive use of four conference rooms. An application process is used with second floor incubator tenants, and a variety of business services are provided to ensure the success of BioSpace1 tenants.

All BioSpace1 tenants share common space services that include building reception, restrooms with showers, sit-down lounge for dining, vending machines, a formal and two additional conference rooms, loading dock, hazardous waste secured storage and ample free parking.

The building is supported with back-up power to maintain critical lab functions and broadband internet (both hardwired and wireless) and voice over IP telephony. The building is card access only, with four security cameras and after-hours uniformed security to provide a safe 24 x 7 work environment.
